Art therapy
is a form of psychotherapy.
- I believe, that people who come for therapy have everything they need inside themselves. What I can do is to help them connect, reconnect and discover the strengths they have inside themselves and that are necessary to have the lives they want.
- Art therapy works, because at first it is nonverbal. You don't need any kind of knowledge or or affinity to art. The creative process will come all by itself and helps, to perceive hidden sides of the self, fears, conflicts, traumas, the subconscious. With the help of the therapist you can learn how to deal with this, how to live with it. "Psychology Today" offers a fine explanation of how and why art therapy works: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapy-types/art-therapy

Art of healing and healing in art
- feelings, thoughts become visible, can be shared, can be coped with
- traumatic experiences, stressful or suppressed experiences, find symbolic expression, can be examined from the distance, less angst-inducing, free from limiting expectations
- triad between therapist - client - creation offers new impulses, alternative perspectives and solutions can be tried out in an experimantal, playful way
- creativity lets you experience self-efficacy, strengthens self-confidence
The art therapist's work is both preventative and rehabilitative. We work in groups or individual settings.
